Solo project - Isometric city builder game, taking inspiration from classic RTS and city builder games, the player must attempt to terraform a new world and move one billion people there from Earth, fighting against the natural hazards of the new environment

Responsible for:

  • All systems (Blueprint)

  • All models (Blender)

  • All animations (Blender or Blueprint driven)

  • All SFX and original music (FL Studio)

  • All artwork, VFX, UI, technical art, post process, and lighting

  • Level, game, and technical design, and documentation

Detailed Responsibilities

Design

  • Creating TDD, designing and documenting fundamental systems

  • Balancing economic generation and drain amounts using data tables and spreadsheets

  • Designing a clear, easy-to-read user interface for the player HUD

Tech

  • Implementing random map generator, that spawns and randomly elevates tiles that the player can then build on

  • Creating electrical system where two tiles, through pathfinding, know when they are connected via pylons, and will create local power networks that connected buildings can then draw power from

  • Camera system based on research into popular games of this genre, to make sure players have a sense of familiarity when interacting with the game

  • Implementing UI for the HUD with focus on responsive animations and transitions

  • Creating
