Solo project - Point and click adventure puzzle game. Inspired by classics like Myst and Riven. This project allowed me to prove my creativity through a variety of puzzles, models, storylines and a large explorable environment, rich in immersion and adventure.

 

Responsible for:

  • All systems

  • Modelling huts, puzzles, environment (trees and foliage were from Quixel)

  • All SFX and original music, in FL Studio (except wind/nature ambience, found royalty free)

  • All animations (Blender or Blueprint driven)

  • All UI, VFX, and technical art

  • Story, cinematics, lighting, post process, audio systems, puzzle design, and all documentation

Detailed responsibilities

Design

  • Creating TDD, designing and documenting intuitive puzzle mechanics

  • Sculpting island using in editor landscaping tools, applying foliage and environment props to bring the world to life

  • Applying culling, LODs and optimal density of foliage/procedural mesh across environment

  • Creating artwork in Photoshop

Tech

  • Implementing all mechanics, profiling each one to prevent missing memory leaks/heavy processes

  • Creating point-and-click based camera movement system for a 3D environment that uses world space hotspots

  • Cheap, efficient referencing to all necessary objects in the world so they can communicate with each other with little overhead

  • Use of audio tools in Unreal to create spatial dynamic ambience across the island

  • Designing and implementing all UI including main menu

Extras

  • Producing soundtrack and SFX (listen here)

  • Conducting testing sessions to gain statistical insight into the game

  • Modelling buildings and puzzle meshes
