Solo project - Isometric puzzle game where the player must rotate platforms to create a path to the end, my final year project at Staffordshire University.

Responsible for:

  • All systems (Blueprint)

  • All models (Blender)

  • All animations (Blender or Blueprint driven)

  • All SFX and original music (FL Studio)

  • All artwork, VFX, UI, technical art, post process, and lighting

  • Puzzle, level, game, and technical design, and documentation

Detailed Responsibilities

Design

  • Creating TDD, designing and documenting intuitive puzzle mechanics

  • Designing the robot character, based off of research into similar characters

  • Designing levels that contain various puzzle elements from the TDD

  • Applying research on colour theory, lighting direction and shading to maintain visual consistency as well as direction for the player

Tech

  • Creating original, grid-based movement system for character, that reacts to mouse input on accessible tiles

  • Creating level creation system so progress can be saved/loaded with ease

  • A focus on smooth interpolation of animations to provide fluid user experience

  • Intuitive UI throughout the game such as start screen, main menu, tutorial popups, completion/failure visual feedback, interactable object visual indication

  • Handling character animations through scripting to allow for reactive, dynamic and randomizable animations

Extras

  • Producing soundtrack and SFX

  • Conducting research surveys to gain statistical insight into the game

  • Modelled chracter and all puzzle meshes
